Spring Race Summary:
It's been a busy Spring
for the Motonica Team. Starting with the Winternats, Josh
Cyrul qualified 10th first time out with his new Motonica
P8.OR.3008 kit. Unofficially, Josh set the second fastest
qualifying time of the week, but his run DQ'ed for being
underweight. His car was teched earlier and was declared over the
minimum weight, but after the run his car was deemed too light. In
the B Final, Josh was in bump up position when he ran into engine
tuning issues followed by a couple of mistakes on the track
costing him a chance to bump into the A Final. Still we are
pleased with the 10th place qualifying result.
Next up was the
Speedline GP in Texas. Scotty Barrera qualified and placed 2nd
overall after a long battle with Scott Kimbrow. Scotty led during
the main and was battling until the end when his motor went rich
and he had to settle for second. Brad Toffelmire also made the A
Main but had to retire early.
In mid April, we all
headed to sunny Las Vegas for the Motonica GP. Scotty Barrera
TQ'ed, followed by Josh Cyrul in 2nd, and 3 more Motonica cars
(Garen Hagobian, Brad Toffelmire, Arno Mardirossian) in the top
10. The 60 minute A Main started out with Scotty in the lead, Josh
in 2nd, and Garen in 3rd, until about midway when Scotty developed
clutch problems. Josh led the rest of the way, Garen finished 2nd
and Thello Jurdon third. As far as we know, this is the
first major victory for Motonica in the US. Click

Also in April, we
headed to San Jose for the RAMS 40th Anniversary event. In a field
of nearly 90 drivers, Josh put his P8.OR.08 in the second starting
position, with Garen further down the field in the C Main. Garen
won the C, despite nearly losing the front left suspension at the
very end of the race, and in the B was up to 4th position when it
was learned his transponder had quit counting. In the A final,
Josh got the hole shot into the first corner, but got spun out and
possibly damages his car in the ensuing wreck. We had a few
unscheduled pit stops, but at the end of the race, Josh managed to
scrape back up to 4th place, a respectable finish all things
considered.

2-8-2008 As posted on Motonica.com, top Italian driver
Stefano Solaroli has joined the
Motonica Team, and will be performing R&D, with the aim of
increasing the performance of future models.
It is also our pleasure to announce that top US driver, former
IFMAR World’s TQ, and multiple national and international race
winner, Josh Cyrul is on board with
Motonica for the upcoming race season.
Cyrul brings with him many years of racing knowledge and
engineering experience. He is one of the most recognized names in
all of RC, and we look forward to achieving good results with him.
His debut with the Motonica P8.0R 08 will be at the upcoming
Winternats held in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Joining Josh will be sedan racing ace Ron
Atomic, an accomplished racer himself. We are also proud to
have Scotty Barrera on our team, one
of the best 1/8th on road drivers in the US, and a fixture in the
A Main at races all over the US for the past decade.
